The World Moves On and Reckless Life RETURNS!

Cats: Bustout Odds, Reckless Life| No Comments »

Okay I’ve been out of the loop for a while.  I know.  No excuses this time, I just have been.

On a personal note, I’m moving to Chicago.  (I currently reside in Milwaukee, WI.  GO BREWERS!) This is something I’ve wanted to do since high school and circumstances have kept me in Milwaukee time and time again.   Those circumstances are probably no different than the right now but I made the decision quickly and it’s not one I plan to regret.  (But then again, I don’t ever regret anything.)

So there’s that.  After that I’m Londoon for a week on business.  After that…

A full year later, I get back to work on Reckless Life.

Yep, not Bustout Odds- Reckless Life.  I may still call it Bustout Odds, I may not, but were are going to pick up right where we left off.  There are a lot of reasons for this but the big one is I just don’t have the time right now to launch a new property.  BoO was always intended as fresh start for RL with an eye towards improving some things to make it more salable and that rationale doesn’t seem as important to me now.  I miss creating and I want to get back right into telling stories.  NOW, not after I set up a new set of rules in a recognizable context.

When Reckless Life comes back it will pick up right at the end of Murphy’s Law.  Sort of.  You’ll see what I mean when we get there.

And I DO hope to see you there.  More details once things settle down for me.

Interview with ME by UK’s Channel 4

Check it out!

I’ve been lucky enough to do a lot of interviews over the last year but this one ranks amoung my favorites.  They really paint me like a maverick and I love it.

That Thing’s Opperational!

I’m back in computer-related action.  It took longer and took more capitol than I’d have liked but I’ll survive on both counts.

I am, however, still catching up on the work that went undone in the meantime.  Once I’m caught up, look for my thoughts on the Incredible Hulk, one of my famous business of comics commentaries and a bit on Wizard World Chicago.

Speaking of, I will be at Wizard World Chicago this Friday - but only this Friday. (No booth this year.)  This means in all likelihood you won’t see me there but if you do, say hi.  (I am not doing sketches this year though - sorry kids it’s a business trip and I have work to do.)  If you know me, then fear not, I’ll find you.

If you’d like to hang I’ll be at San Diego as well with a bit more of pressence (and therefore easier to find) and that’ll be here before you know it!

When Will I Learn to Keep My Mouth Shut?

Probably never.

So I’m going about my business yesterday and in scheduling something on my calendar, I noticed it was Friday the 13th and subsequently noted nothing had gone wrong. Nice. Spoke too soon.

I was just about to come here and make some jokey Friday the 13th post and then it happens:

A’SPLODE.

It sure looks like my computer is shot. I have a Mini Mac that I’m running off of right now but it doesn’t quite have the guts to handle the kind of stuff I need to be doing on a day to day basis so if you work with me please be patient while I wait for the diagnosis, and in all likelihood, get myself a new computer.

I was pretty pissed at first but I’m pretty psyched up about getting myself a MacBook all the sudden. Though I did almost have my credit card paid off as of yesterday. Sigh… another time HD TV

UPDATE: The fine folk at the Mac store assure me they’ll be able to rescue all of my data, but even if they can’t all of Bustout odds so far survived this debacle so no worries about further delays there.

You know this article is good becasue it has me in it.

Newsarama has posted a roundtable interview about economics as it applies to digital comics. That is what we call: TIM’S WHEELHOUSE and I am one of the interviewees. (Wow, I’m kinda surprised interviewees is a word according to spellcheck. Wow, spellcheck is NOT a word according to spellcheck. That’s pretty self-defeating, don’t you think. Chin up spellcheck, you’re okay!)

What? Oh yeah. Interview. Me. Other people who are not me. Good.

Welcome to the New BustoutOdds.com

Welcome.

A few of you have found this site before it’s actual launch, but this post will proceed me actually telling people this site is here and not on Webcomicsnation anymore. The webcomicsnation site isn’t going anywhere, but as it becomes abundantly clear that it’s going to be while before Bustout Odds is ready I don;t want to just fill that space with aimless rambling. That’s a place for comics and when I update there it will be announcements related to the launch of BoO. If you’ve had it with my slow as hell progress and just want to know when the comic starts, that is still the RSS feed for you. If you’d like to continue getting behind the scenes looks, that will be happening here.

So will that aimless rambling I mentioned.

This blog will actually act as kind of a combination of the Bustout Odds Production Blog, The Reckless Life Forum and my old MySpace Blog in that it will contain updates on Bustout Odds, my various manifestos on the business of comics, pop culture analysis, and links to things that happen to amuse me. It will also resurrect some my running features and gags like What You Should Think, Ego Trip, Tim Demeter’s
Recliner of Rage, I EFFING TOLD YOU, and others.

To get things started, I’ve been posting a few odds and ends over the last week below and below that is a cross post of everything from the BoO blog on WCN.

My forum was and is a madhouse and I hope to recapture that here so go ahead and use that comment sections. Regulars know I’m not shy about replying myself.

Welcome, and enjoy.

Free yourself und destroy this temple of failure!

Ah, Dr Henry Killinger, you see right through me. Do you guys know Venture Bros back on? Do you guys even WATCH Venture Bros? If you don’t you’re wasting your life. There is no hyperbole in that statement. It’s the only thing worth watching on Adult Swim anymore. (Though people do keep telling me to watch Metalocalypse.)

Anyways, it’s back as of last week and it’s pretty much the greatest thing ever and you don’t even need cable to watch it because there is an internet.

There are DINOSAURS on your DINOSAUR tour?

Welcome back to the Bustout Odds Blog, the comics blog where we talk about music apparently.

I know this is two in a row about Coldplay but I can not properly get across how retarded I am for their new stuff. I am listening to the new album in it’s entirety right now at I Heart Music and you can too!

(Yes, it’s legit.)
